    Stock Island

The working harbor — fishing fleet, dive boats, and the locals' best-kept secret.

    THE BLURB

Stock Island is the next island east of Key West, connected by a bridge. It's the working waterfront — commercial fishing fleet, charter dive boats, boat yards, and lately, some of the island's most interesting new restaurants and hotels (the Perry Hotel, Hogfish Bar & Grill). If you want a real fishing charter or you're tired of the Old Town buzz, this is where you go.

    LOCAL TIP

Hogfish Bar & Grill is the no-frills lunch — fish was on a hook three hours ago. Bagatelle's owners run a sister spot here that's quieter and just as good.

    WHAT TO KNOW
    How do I get there?+

5-minute drive east of Old Town on US-1, just over the bridge. Bike-able but takes 25 minutes from Duval.

    Where do dive boats launch?+

Most from the Safe Harbor Marina or Oceanside Marina. Shorter ride to several reef sites than from Old Town.
