Downtown / Old Town Key West
Where most of the boats live and most of the fun happens.
Old Town is the seven-block-by-fifteen-block heart of Key West — Duval Street, Mallory Square, the Historic Seaport. Almost every sunset sail, snorkel charter, glass-bottom boat and walk-on tour leaves from a dock you can stroll to from any guesthouse here. If your hotel is south of Truman Avenue, you can probably skip the rental car altogether.
The Historic Seaport (where Schooner Wharf sits) is the locals' move at sunset — same view as Mallory Square, half the crowd. Tarpon feeding at Alonzo's around 4pm is free entertainment.
Where do tours depart?+
Most water tours leave from the Historic Seaport on William Street — Schooner Wharf, A&B Marina, and the city marina docks. Walk-on charters are the rule, not the exception.
Do I need a car?+
No. Old Town is walkable end-to-end in 20 minutes. A bike or golf cart makes it even easier. Rent a Conch Cart and you can park almost anywhere a regular car can't.
Where should I park?+
Park & Ride at Park Street is the cheapest day option. Mallory Square garage is convenient but pricier. Most hotels have valet or self-park.
